4 weddings.

This year. Well, if you consider ROM/solemnisation a wedding too. Otherwise, it would have to be 3 ROMs and 2 dinners. How does that add up? 'Cos I'd be invited to some ROMs and not weddings; and some weddings and not ROMs. Ya?

I'm thinking of tailor-making a dress. I went to a few shopping sites online but couldn't really find what I would like. And those featured in the mall boutiques are so boring too. So, I have this idea to design something and have it tailor-made. Nothing too elaborate. Something weather-practical (cos this is Singapore, hullo!), classy yet subtle.

But I might as well find out if there's a colour scheme for Apple's wedding first. Hey woman, drop me a comment about this ok!

Hung

I've been looking around, shopping for desktops. My family decided to change our desktop cos my younger sis has been announcing that the computer is gonna die on us soon. And we should do our back-up soon when we can (And, I haven't done mine, yet). So, it's like a decree that we are going to have to get a new desktop. Well, suits me fine. Last Sunday, my computer hung on me twice, upon booting it up. I find that so unacceptable!

So, I've been looking around for some desktop brands. Well, Dell, hp, Compaq (hp) and Acer. Personally, I really like one of the hp-Compaq models.

Anyone of you know about com or any opinions, past experience about the above-mentioned brands? Drop me a comment, can? Would appreciate it!

Digging ears

I love having my ears cleanned by my girlfriend. We'd do it like, once every few days. Honest, her eyes will lit up whenever I suggest 'Dig ears?' in the midst of sharing one of those boring-but-lethargic afternoons together. And the next thing I know, she would have fetched what my mum thought was the super-long ear-digger and sit cross-legged on my bed. My job was to just lie down on my side, put xiaobao-mei (who is the newly adopted sister of Xiaobao) on her lap and rest my head while she begins the exploration into my ear.

In the beginning, the wholenew favourite hobby lasted like 20 mins. But, I've found a way to lengthen our favourtie past time by trying to dig my ears myself with my slimmer, longer little finger. And then, she would try 'exploring' for more dirt again, and I'd close my eyes and enjoy the experience awhile more and then we repeat the same for the other ear. And sometimes, I just pretend to fall asleep. And it's so super nice.

Sometimes, I return the favour by peering up under her nose to see if she needs a trim of her nose-hairs. For some reason, her nose hairs seem to grow incessantly. And sometimes, in the mid of talking or eating or shopping, I would spot a few of these little hairs poking out to see the world. And then, we would return home to trim those off.

It's fun, too!

I think we must be one of the coolest couples around. 'Cos ear-digging and nose hair-trimming are just some of the littlest things that are so personal but we really enjoy doing it for one another!

Have you lost your voice or lost the words?

For some, I would say both. But, please, try to keep your humor. Let go of your mind. Just keep the sense of humor.

Bitter in the heart, sweet on the tongue.

Hey, folks. I. Applied. For. MOE. Note, 'applied' indicates the past tense, means already happened, over already. Yeah?

Last week. At girl's house, with girl's laptop, using girl's Singtel broadband connection. Some of the filling up of the fields were also done by girl, not me. So, technically, it could be argued that "Girl. Applied. For. MOE. On behalf. Of. Me."

Hehe...

Keep an open mind now. And an open mailbox. The interview letter supposed to come in within 2 weeks. I'm not in a hurry yet. My paycheck for last month just got in. What I really need to do now is just practise restraint on my spending. My last splurge was on the Lavande cake from Bakerzin, which I shared with girl yesterday. But, it was a damn worthy splurge. Every half-cent worth it! Yumm~~~

Who did you think you are?

I was alerted to the possibility that some lowly creature may have been logging in to MY MSN using MY ID and (i don't know how this happened) MY password.

One of my friends was so thoughtful and sweet to sms me after she didn't get a reply from me (rather out of character, she thought) to her msg. That was in the morning. Thing is, my computer wasn't even swtiched on in the morning! And when I was at the com in the afternoon, I didn't log in to MSN too.

Some time ago, another friend mentioned that I was still online on MSN at a time when I was really nodding away, sleeping on the bus ride home from my then-workplace, i.e. NIE. There is no way I could be online then.

So, tell me, is there another me that I should be aware of? My schizophrenia at work? An evil twin sister? An alternative force derived from the megnetic field of my thoughts or some kinda bullshit like that? Some scene from Sliding Windows? Or, what?

I find it so not funny.

The Knight has spoken.

Met up with Eug yesterday for dinner. I still can't grasp how a bowl of Caesar salad with smoked salmon and a not-nice Iced Passion Tea with Gelato can cost 20 freaking bucks. The cost of living is just so high in Singapore! Just how much can lettuce cost?

Luckily, the company was priceless. We touched on what 'achievement' meant, the gap between ideals and reality when it comes to finding a roof over the head, touched on the role of an educator (our common foundation topic) in a learning environment like Singapore, talked about what subjects I must really take if I go study in NIE, about our own relationships and we both brought home with us some paradigm shift in perception.

How often do you get to meet a friend, talked so much, shared some expensive food and each bring home a lesson in shifting paradigms? Not very often. But, I'm glad I still get this kind of opportunity once every few months.

xxx

So, that's what makes all of you different.

I smsed this to Eug last night, after I got home.

"You know, in my opinion, thinking about any decision is an attempt to be responsible to yourself and the ones who would be affected by your decision. Even if sometimes, the thinking takes longer than preferred. But, I'd rather take the time to make a justified decision that I can stick by, than to adopt one that circumstances decided for me."

I occasionally wonder why I get along with certain people better than others. It's a common line of query for many of us, isn't it? Why you just click with some people better and not so well with others?

It kept slipping my mind that I once got an answer out of myself. It's about responsibility. Not just responsibility towards others' expectations of you. More to do with balancing that responsibility with the sense of responsibility for oneself, for what one expects from one's own life.

It's the seek for that balance of self-investment with living out the expectations your loved ones have for you. It's so not easy. We are all struggling. Sometimes, the scale balances a bit better than other times.

But, I guess, we all have our own velvet cushion to fall back on when the horrible needle deviates too much from the center. Mine is, that, everything happens for a reason. If you hang around long enough to see what's next, you'd get to find out why.

Take some time, you know who you are. Circumstances may catalyse a decision, but you still have to put your foot down yourself.

Maybe I will write instead.

There's email, blog space, .doc and there's just plain old-fashioned writing paper.

Thrash the keyboard. I will write instead.

The queen, the princess, and whatever. This is not a decree. Just a love letter. Like the ones I used to write for you.

Love, me.

Froggi goes to see Tioman

My froggi is going on a trip to Tioman with her colleagues tomorrow. Colleagues whom I know too. I'm not going cos I've no June traveling plan and hence, no budget to indulge myself. Especially since I'm living the life of a gainfully employed personnel for now.

I went to her house in the afternoon to help her put her bag on a diet. This silly froggi almost brought along clothes enough to change for a 1-week trip for a 4D3N trip. *smiles*

So, as Froggi goes snorkeling, I'd stay home and try to connect to her via Discovery TravelnLiving channel.

I got a feeling I'd see a burnt frog on my doorsteps on Wed.

We've been to the Silver Lining.

Where brides-to-be try to find and fit their dream wedding gowns. This bride-to-be has been going on a diet for some time. Except for the occasional indulgence, like on her birthday, she doesn't really eat dinner. I'm in awe that she didn't even touch the muddy mud pie we ordered to share at Coffee Club the other day!

I think she looks good already, good enough. But still, she griped about the little protruding layer of flesh around her waist as she donned her gown yesterday. Still, she lamented about looking fat in the gown that I had a vote for!

I think women, particularly brides-to-be, should be more forgiving on themselves. If you already shown so much discipline in your diet, I think you should credit yourself for losing weight when you do.

Coming from me, this may sound like insult and totally lacking of empathy, but I still think that women ought to have a bit more flesh and fats on her. The curves on the body are nicer lah. I think it's beautiful to have a little tummy. Nothing such that you look down and only see your tummy instead of your feet. Personally, I feel a iron-flat tummy is just... too flat, it looks 2-Dimension. Don't you think?

But yes, I agree that flabby arms are just horrible! Imagine you have to wave goodbye to guests and this two pieces of flabs under your arms just shake lifelessly. Argh!!!

I just don't have the motivation to do anything about it now, yet. hehe...

Just like Arwen.

So, while this bride-to-be went for her fitting, Froggi and me were seated outside this sofa-couch that froggi really likes and flipping through bridal magazines. I think there must have been at least 200 gowns that went past my eyes. Alas, only 2 caught my fancy. I think the tube-top kind of gowns are typical. The spaghetti strap kind is boring. The long sleeved kind is too warm for Singapore. So, I like a wide, round, off-shouldered kind.

Hehe, in another words, just like Arwen and Eowyn's dress. Yay! I always knew there's a bit of elvishness in me.
